گر جہاں پیشت بزرگ و بےتنے ست
Although the world feels to be
big and expanded to you
پیشِ قدرت ذرّہ میداں کہ نیست
Know that it is even lesser than
a minuscule particle
ایں جہاں خود جس
جانہائے شماست
This world is a jail for your
souls
ہیں دو ید آنسو کہ صحرائے خداست
Beware! run towards that field
of Allah
ایں جہاں محدود آں خود بیحد ست
This world is with limit and
that is without limit
نقش و صورت پیشِ آں معنیٰ سَد ست
Pictures & faces (this
world) is wall to the essence (that world)
صد ہزاراں نیزہ فرعون را
The hundreds of spears of Pharaoh
در شکست آں موسیٰ بایک عصا
Was broken by Moses with a
stick
صد ہزاراں طبّ جالینوس بود
Galen had hundreds of prescription of medicines
پیشِ عیسیٰ و دمش افسوس بود
But were of no use before the
Jesus and his puff
صد ہزاراں دفترِ اشعار بود
The hundreds of volumes of
couplets
پیش حرفِ اُمّیش آں عار بود
Were nothing before the speech
of Muhammad SAW (i.e. Quran)
In
these couplets, first the uselessness of this world before the powers of Allah,
then the constriction of the created world (this world), its weakened position
and the expanded nature of esoteric world (عالِمِ
باطنی) have been discussed. Though
this world looks like majestic and gargantuan to you, but it is nothing before
the powers of Allah. In some copies, بے
بنی is used instead of بے
تنے and بن is used for roots, which means limit as the roots are the
limits of the tree. It means this world might be felt to you as majestic and
limitless. This world is an assembly (in a limited area) for your souls, as has
been narrated in a Hadith – الدّنیا سجن
المومن
(the
world is jail for the momin) and you should tilt towards the desert of Allah
(here desert is used for expansion i.e. moving from limited one to limitless). This
world is with limit and that world is limitless. The pictures and faces i.e.
this world is a wall or hindrance in achieving that world and engrossing in
this world is a cause of obstruction to obtain that world.
This
was the description of constriction and expansion and now the discussion is of
weakness and power, as the hundreds of spears of Pharaoh (i.e. of his
magicians) were defeated by a single stick of Moses. It was because the sticks
of magicians were bearing the effects of this world, whereas, the stick of
Moses was carrying the effects of that world. The impact of difference of weak
and powerful is obvious as Galen (a famous physician of Greek) created hundreds
of medicines but were a boy’s play before Jesus and his puff. Or it may be a
reason for regret for seeking medicines as why didn’t they turn to other way
and wasted so much time. The reason is that these medicines carried the
specific qualities and nature of this world, whereas, the puff of Jesus was
carrying the effects and blessings of that world. During the time of our
prophet Muhammad SAW, there were hundreds of books/ volumes of poetry of
ignorance (جاہلیت)in Arab, but were of no use/ ashamed before the speech (Quran)
of the illiterate prophet (Muhammad SAW), as people felt ashamed to recite
those poetry before this speech. Thus the poetries carried the effects of this
world, whereas, the speech of Allah is carrying the effects of that world.
