Couplet 660-663

O’ listener, people who hoarded a lot of treasure
Became a piece of joke for intellectuals

What is an ox? So that you become its mane
What is dust? So that you would become its grass

What is gold and silver? So that you become its lover
What is face? So that you become mad

These palaces and gardens are your jails
Your dominion and wealth are the troubles for your soul

In above couplets, the discussion was of condemnation of intelligence of philosophers, now the condemnation is of those who are following these philosophers by leaving the path of prophets and friends of Allah (اولیا). Since the reason of this following is greed for the world, as philosophers are suggesting the same and providing the strategies for the same. This is opposite to the prophets and friends of Allah, who teaches to loath the same (greed for this world). The desirers of this world are moving more towards them, as we are witnessing in our time. Thus Maulana condemns world and greed for the world, thus he states that numerous people who are striving for the hoarding the treasures or  those hoarding huge treasures became a piece of joke later. This means those who are desirer of world and are engrossed in it i.e. like a person who is following his thoughts and desires only are termed as clever bird above.

Those followers of thoughts are given simile of mane of ox, which is a sarcastic simile and then questions why are you becoming so as it is not worth for you. And what is this dust i.e. this world and why are you becoming its grass, which grows in it i.e. you are taking interest in it. Then further elaborating it, he states that what is the worth of gold and silver?  So that you are becoming desirer of the same. And what is the worth of the world of pictures (this world), so that you are becoming mad for it. All these palaces and gardens of yours are, in fact, your jails, as you are striving to achieve them. All these dominions and wealth are the troubles for your rooh, as has been narrated above in Hadith - الدّنیا سجن المومن (the world is jail for the momin)
