ہر کہ بیدارست او در خواب تر
One
who is awaken, is more distracted
ہست بیداریش از خوابش بتر
His being awaken is worse than sleep
ہر کہ در خواب ست بیدار یش بہ
It
is better to become awaken while distracted
مَستِ غفلت عینِ ہشیاریش بہ
It is better to be alert at the moment while being distracted
چوں بحق بیدار نبود جانِ ما
When
our soul is not awaken in the path of Allah
ہست بیداری چو دربندانِ ما
Then apparent awaken up is nothing more than that of a prison
جاں ہمہ روز از لکد
کوبِ خیال
The
soul is being destroyed whole day in the thoughts
وز زیان و سود و از خوفِ زوال
In worldly benefits & losses and fear of reduction
نے صفا میماندش نے لطف و فر
There
is no cleanliness, purity and power
نے بسوئے آسماں راہِ سفر
Neither it is capable of finding path for elevating to sky
The
person who is more desirous of the worldly things is more far off and unaware
of Allah and his alertness (بیداری)
is more contemptible than his sleep, when all the matters are kept in abeyance.
Because he involves in sins for learning and getting the worldly things and alertness
& intelligence for world is nothing and actual alertness (بیداری)
must be for Allah. If there is no inclination or awareness of Allah Ta’ala,
then that alertness is in fact a prison for us. If because of such alertness,
one involves and imprisons more in the things other than Allah and the spirit (روح)
has been put in stress for its desire & thought and calculation of loss
& profit, its reduction of the worldly bounties creates a lasting damage in
the spirit. Its impact is that it loses its sheen, cleanliness, taste and
elegance and neither it can be inclined towards superior knowledge, as this
inclination cannot be of two sides. When it thinks of regarding learning of
tastes of inferior world day and night, then it is obvious that he cannot
incline towards the tastes of superior world.
