Couplet 535-539

ور حسَد گیرد ترا در رہ گلُو

If jealousy is troubling you in the path

در حَسَد ابلیس را باشد غلُو

As satan is accomplished in triggering jealousy

کُو ز آدم ننگ دارد از حَسَد

Because he was jealous of Adam due to his inferior status

با سعادت جنگ دارد از حَسَد

And fighting good people due to jealousy

عَقبہ زیں صَعب تر در راہ نیست

There is no bigger trouble than this in the path

اے خُنک آں کش حَسَد ہمراہ نیست

A person is highly blessed, who does not have jealous

ایں جسد خانہ حَسَد آمد بداں

This body is the home of jealousy, try to understand

کز حَسَد آلودہ گردد خانداں

All the members of family become indulged in jealousy

خانما نہا از حَسَد گردد خراب

Whole family become destroyed due to jealousy

بازِ شاہی از حَسَد گردد غُراب

A royal hawk (heart) becomes crow due to jealousy

                      If you are feeling compunction of following Shams Tabrezi and Zia-ul-Haq, then you are feeling jealousy. Then he states in this regard that you are following the path of Iblees, if the jealousy is the muffler (companion) in treading the path of Truth. Iblees is the master of this attribute of jealousy, as he was feeling compunction with Adam because of this attribute only. Thus, because of jealousy, he was deprived of his advantages i.e. he injured himself. There is nothing bigger hindrance than the jealousy in the path of sulook, as less blessed people are deprived of achieving the ultimate knowledge (کمال) because of this. It is because they consider following a sheikh as shame, particularly the deputy of the sheikh as he is one amongst them. Inclination or follow is contrary to their disposition and temperament and it is felt that they all are equal because of being disciple of one master. Thus feeling how can request him for knowledge and accomplishment is not possible without following a master. The person, who does not possess jealousy, is the most happy one. Further he talks about the reason behind this attribute. This is because of the domineering of bodily desires like lust and anger, as it creates the selfishness and because of this selfishness, one has to be jealous with those whom he considers strong enough in that respect. Thus this body is home of jealousy. Keep it in mind that jealousy destroys everything sane in you like intelligence, senses etc. Although all these things in you are like hawk for achieving lofty things like truth, rights and knowledge etc but they become like a crow who eats impure and degraded things i.e. desirous of fraudulent things and mean worldly desires. Therefore, the jealousy should be rejected and adopt to follow a perfect saint/ master.

                  Since jealousy with Friends of Allah (اولیا) entails the curse & destruction and, therefore, Allah usually hides them, so that people should not self-destruct themselves by opposing such saints.
