Couplet 523-528

مرغ بَر بالا پَران و سایہ اش

The bird is flying high in the sky

میدَ و بدر خاک پرّاں مرغ وش

Its shadow is moving, like it, on the earth

اَبلہے صیّادِ آں سایہ شود

A foolish one is hunting the shadow

میدَ وَد چندانکہ و بے مایہ شود

And becomes tired moving after it

بے خبر کاں عکسِ آں مرغِ ہوا ست

Unaware that it is the shadow of bird of desire

بے خبر کہ اصلِ آں سایہ کجا ست

And unaware where is the substance of the shadow

تیرانداز دبسوئے سایہ اُو

He is hitting arrows to the shadow

تَرکشش خالے شود در جستجو

And quiver becomes empty in the endeavour

ترکشِ عُمرش تہی شد عُمر رفت

The quiver of his life becomes empty, his life goes waste

از دویدن در شکارِ سایہ تَفت

He becomes burnt & spent in hunting the shadow

سایہ یزداں چو باشد دایہ اش

When the saints are shadow of Allah

وارہاند از خیالِ سایہ اش

Will get rid of him of the thoughts

                   There were condemnation of thoughts of worldly affairs which make one stressed. There is an example showing the stupidity of those seeking the worldly affairs. The existence of the this world is baseless and in comparison to the existence of next world (آخرہ), it is like an imaginary shadow of  anything, which has a real existence. The example of those who are desiring this world by rejecting the آخرہ is like a stupid hunter who is hunting after the shadow, cast by a flying bird, that is moving on the ground. He will remain unfulfilled, howsoever he runs after that shadow, as he does not understand that this is the shadow of a bird flying above, neither he knows about the real content i.e. the bird. He is throwing arrows towards the shadow and the quiver has become empty in this endeavour. Similarly, the life like the quiver of a person desirous of achieving worldly affairs is getting empty quickly in his effort of desire of the world i.e. shadow.
