مرد مال و خِلعتِ بیار دید
When
the goldsmith saw the gold and royal gifts
غرّہ شد از شہر و فرزنداں بُرید
He became ready easily and parted with his family
اندر آمد شادماں در راہ مرد
He happily
moved into journey
بیخبر کاں شاہ قصدِ جانش کرد
Not knowing that the king is after is life
اسپِ تازی بر نشست و شاد تاخت
Riding
on an Arabian horse, he journeyed
خونبہائے خویش را خِلعت شناخت
Accepting royal gifts which are actually his blood-money
اے شدہ اندر سفر باصد رضا
Alas! Person
journeying happily,
خود بپائے خویش تا سُوْءُ الْقَضَا
Approaching his death on his own feet
در خیاش مُلک و عزّ و سروری
He was
thinking about kingship, fame and leadership
گفت از رائیل رَو آرے بَری
The Angel of Death saying ‘Go! You will get these things’!
This
person (goldsmith) became infatuated after seeing so much wealth & gifts
and became ready to go along with the messengers leaving his wife and children,
not knowing that the king has intended for taking his life. Thus he rode on the
horse and moved towards the king, what he understood as royal gifts are in fact
his blood-money for taking his life. Then Maulana addresses him that he is
making journey on his will to a very bad death. What he was thinking that we
will get the headmanship, fame etc. and in the words of Angel of Death (Haz
Izrael AS – ملک الموت) sarcastically addressing to him go there! You will get the
headmanship and fame?
