نے چنیں حیراں کہ پشتش سوئے اوست
They
are not astonished that their back is towards Him
بل چنیں حیراں کہ رو در روئے اوست
Rather astonished in a way facing Him
آں یکے را روئے اوشد سوئے دوست
His
one face is towards the Friend
ویں یکے را روئے او
خود روئے اوست
And his own face is the face of Friend
What
we have said above about the Gnostics that they are astonished but not to a kind
of a person who has back towards the Friend i.e. unaware and veiled of Allah
Ta’ala. Rather their astonishment is that they are absorbed and intoxicated in
knowing of Allah Ta’ala. The idea is that their astonishment is likeable (محمودہ) and not the blameworthy (مذمومہ) and then he states two stages of the likeable astonishment.
The one is that in which his attention is towards the Friend (i.e. Allah
Ta’ala) and the second is that wherein his attention is actually the attention
of the Friend. The meaning is that in some cases of likeable astonishment,
people feel less absorbed, as they do not become unaware of themselves and also
attention is there towards Allah Ta’ala and the second is that where they are
so absorbed that their attribute of attention will be no more and instead
assimilated in the attention۔ of Allah
Ta’ala, as obviously in the condition of unawareness, nothing is in the zone of
awareness.
