Couplet 418-422

شہ وزیرے داشت رہزن عشوہ دہ

The vizier of that king was a trickster and cunning

کُو بر آب از مکر بر بستے گرہ

So cunning as to tie knots in water

گفت ترسایاں پناہِ جاں کنند

He said that in order to save their lives, the Christians

دین خود را از ملک پنہاں کنند

Try to hide their religion from the king

با ملک گفت اے شہِ اسرار جُو

He said to the king; O’ king desirous of secrets!

کم کش ایشا نرا و دست از خوں بشو

Don’t kill them and don’t hound them

کم کش ایشا نرا  کہ کشتن سود نیست

Don’t kill them as killing them would not be a beneficial

دیں ندارد بوئے مُشک و عود نیست

There is no odour in religion like of musk & incense

سرِّ پنہاں ست اندر صد غلاف

It is a secret hidden in hundreds of envelopes

ظاہرش با تُست و باطنِ بر خلاف

Their external is with you while, internally against you

The story of the vizier of the king and his tricks to create factions amongst the Christians

                      This Jews king has a vizier who was so great trickster and cunning that he can tie a knot in the water, an exaggeration to explain his knavishness. He told the king that Christian will hide their religion in order to save their lives and therefore do not kill them, as you may not get the desired benefits. The religion do not have a distinct smell so that you can smell and tell the religion of someone and this is a hidden thing, which remains under hundred wraps. It remains in the one’s heart and one can be with you apparently but may be following a different religion internally. This means that even Christians do accept your religion but actually following the Christianity by heart, then what would you do and these Christians would not be finished this way.
