بود بقّالے مراد را طوطئیے
A
greengrocer was there and he had a parrot
خوشنوا و سبزد گویا طوطئیے
The parrot had a good voice and of green colour
بردُکاں بودے
نگہبانِ دُکاں
The
parrot stays in shop and guards it
نُکتہ گفتے باہمہ سود اگراں
And was talking to different merchants
درخطابِ آدمی ناطق بُدے
It
discussed with human in their language
درنوائے طوطیاں حذق بُدے
And with other parrots in its language
Story-2 : The
story of a greengrocer and a parrot and spilling of oil by the parrot
This story is linked with the Couplet 311 mentioned
in the previous story
تو قیاس از خویش می گیری
و لیک
دُور دُور اُفتادہ بنگر
تو نیک
The objective of this
story is to not compare the actions of Friends of Allah (اہلُ
اللّاہ) with that of
your own, which is wrong, the way this parrot has compared a dervish with
himself and got ridiculed.
There
was a parrot in the shop of a perfume seller, which has the characteristics of
safeguarding the shop in his absence and was talking with other businessmen in
the language of the human being and in his own language with other parrots.
