Feeling
for this world is ladder of success in this world
Feeling for Hereafter is ladder of success in skies
The
health of that senses be consulted from the doctors
The health of this senses be consulted from the beloved
The
health of that senses is with the health of body
The health of this senses is with the weakening of body
It
was deliberated above that external senses are at work for detecting any
external feelings and spiritual senses are to work to detect spiritual
feelings. Now these couplets have the objective to supplement the above context
and discuss the superiority of the spiritual senses and their learning. Maulana
states the worldly senses are the medium for gathering information of this
secondary world and the senses of the next world (عقبیٰ)
i.e. spiritual senses or the lights of knowledge (نورِ
معرفت), are the means to understand the secrets (اسرار)
and effects of the superior world (عالیمِ علوی).
If you want to keep these bodily senses in good shape, then go and meet a
doctor, but if you want to keep spiritual
(روحانی) senses in healthy condition, then go &
meet and follow a perfect sheikh (شیخِ
To supplement this, he further states
that bodily senses will be healthy when your physical body is in healthy
condition. Whereas spiritual senses will be in good health, when your physical
body weaken and puts to test. It means that one should obtain the lights of
knowledge (نورِ معرفت) and to do so, one should incline towards
a perfect sheikh and whatever, he directs regarding the tough austerity
measures, disconnection with worldly desires & bodily tastes, do follow the
same, though that requires somewhat deterioration on your body but that needs
to be ignored or borne with. Then only you are able to achieve that lights of
knowledge (نورِ معرفت), with which you can differentiate between
the good & bad and special & common.
