Anger
and lust make a person squint
And distract the Rooh from straight path
When
time comes, talent goes for hiding
And hundreds of veils shadow the eye of heart
When
a judge agrees for bribe beforehand
Then how can he differentiate between the persecutor & victim
This is illustration of the contents mentioned above at Couplet 412:
مرد احول گرد داز مَیلاں و خشم
The
lust and anger make a people irrational i.e. squint and distract the rooh from
the right path and firmness. Because these two attributes (lust and anger)
allow the desires of self (نفسانی)
objective and motives to take upperhand. Desire is such an entity that when it
comes into play, it downsizes the talent and the actual directions. The orders,
rationale and talent will go for hiding once this self centered motives take control.
Firstly, the heart of such a person gets veiled, as its comprehension becomes
skewed or wrong and since the senses are following the orders from heart, which
extends a veil over the eyes from heart as well i.e. sensory comprehension too
becomes erred. For example if a jurist makes up his mind to take bribe in a particular
case, then he cannot differentiate between the perpetrator and victim. The self
(نفسانی) motives are of two kinds, one is to gain
something, which is known as lust (شہوت)
and the second is to avoid some harm or damage, which is known as fearfulness (غضب).
These are the two basic causes for making injustice and not considering the
benefit and harm to others. When there is no consideration of others’ benefit
or damage, then why does one bother to research the fact or seek actual direction?
Instead, he will try to hide from others whatever fact he knows and try to
justify in his own heart well. In such a situation, both heart and senses do
not work properly and this is the explanation of prevailing veil over the
senses and sight.
