We
seek divine help of Allah for propriety
بے ادب محروم ماند از فضلِ رب
One who does not adopt propriety are bereft of Allah’s bliss
Desiring propriety and bad effects of indecency
Now at this stage, Maulana digresses from the actual topic of story
of the king and handmaiden and starts a new topic of explanation of propriety.
The actual story will be taken up again after narrating new theme. This is the specialty
of Mathnavi, as Maulana changes track to explain the benefits, before coming
back to the topic.
The
connection of new theme with the previous one is clear as in the last couplet,
it was explained that the king behaves with the saintly person with great
respect. With this reason, Maulana starts explaining the benefits of propriety
and an indication is there that when you meet a perfect sheikh/ Gnostic, then
behave with respect and do not show indecency.
