سِرّ یار
I told
her that the secret of Friend is better hidden
خود تو در ضمن ِ حکایت گوش دار
Instead, you would listen to in the form of story
Now
the answer to rooh is that though the requirement of the time is there but
there is more requirement of keeping wisdom in mind and demand of the wisdom is
that to keep this secret concealed only. Here this wisdom has been kept in
brief but in the subsequent couplets, there will be detailed discussion on this
subject. The objective of the second part of the couplet is that I have not
completely stopped on the matter, instead has been mentioned in stories and
examples. And the reference with these stories and examples are complete
allegories which are there in the book and therefore the writings of Maulana Rum
has full of such indications at a number of places. And in one such couplet of
the preface (proem), we have made a detailed account of the content so that a
common person can understand.
