گفتم اے دور اوفتادہ از حبیب
I said
“O’ you! far from the friend
ہمچو بیمار یکہ دورست از طبیب
You are like a sick away from doctor”
لَا تُکَلِّفْنِیْ فَاِنِّیْ فِیْ الْفَنَا
Don’t pressurize
me, I am at the state of annihilation (fana)
کَلَّتْ اَفْہَا مِیْ فَلَا اُحْصِیْ ثَنَا
My understanding is blunted, I could not praise completely
حبیب
means beloved meaning the master i.e. I told my rooh (soul) that you are here
away from the master, which is like a patient is away from the doctor. The
objective is to explain his own distance, as the rooh of any person is that
person himself only. It seems there is a complain that I myself is in pain due
to separation, therefore, how can I explain. The meaning of Arabic couplet is ‘don’t
give pain to me as I am not in my senses and my understanding is blunted
(because of the pain of separation) and hence I can comprehend to discuss the
praise of my master.’
